Lydia Dean wants to think about international philanthropy in a different way, and our current global situation provides the perfect space for this reimagining. She's experienced how travel as a process can support us in learning how to take bigger and bigger leaps in our lives and generously invites us into this world of transformation through travel.

This wonderfully rich conversation dances around topics of truth and vulnerability, how the pandemic (and staying still, and home) can help us re-enter the world of travel in a more intentional way.  As well as the way travel can unveil vulnerability in a way that's in service to personal growth.

"The answers to most of these issues do not lie outside of the communities themselves. They are full of resources - and our support and partnership has helped us see how our work helps the assets that are already there be amplified. The solution isn't the outside in - they're already there, and need to be nurtured, fortified, and strengthened."

Lydia is the founder of Go Philanthropic Travel Foundation, an organization that connects people with lesser-known humanitarian organizations around the world. She recently wrote a book called Jumping the Picket Fence.
